Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back from their 4-0 opening day Premier League defeat to Manchester United in their UEFA Super Cup clash with Liverpool.
It is a chance for Frank Lampard to get his first piece of silverware as Blues boss after taking over as manager earlier this summer.
Losing by such a heavy margin at Old Trafford was an early blow for Lampard but a win in Istanbul on Wednesday would quickly put it behind them.
The Blues boss has several selection dilemmas to contend with as well as two fewer days to prepare for the match in Istanbul, which is live on talkSPORT.
Their defeat against United came on Sunday, whereas Liverpool played on the Friday night against Norwich.
Jose Mourinho criticised Lampard for getting his team selection and tactics wrong against the Red Devils.
The former Blues boss picked out the selection of Mason Mount, Andreas Christensen and Tammy Abraham.
Lampard did hit back at the comments, though, and said: “I don’t have to be too concerned about what anyone else says, the pundits, but what is clear is the squad is the squad we’ve got and I believe in it.
“I can’t drag people out of the medical room, whether they’re experienced or not. The players we played today, and on the bench, are the players we have.
“We were missing internationals and big players, but I don’t want that to be an excuse. We were competing for long periods.”
N’Golo Kante started on the bench at Old Trafford as he continued his recovery from an injury picked up in pre-season.
Their £58million January signing Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud came on as substitutes and could be in line for starts.
Out of favour Marcos Alonso could get some game time at left back with Emerson being rested for their next Premier League match against Leicester.
Kurt Zouma struggled against Manchester United but Lampard has few options at centre-back with Antonio Rudiger still recovering from injury and David Luiz leaving on transfer deadline day.
